We carefully labeled all the pieces.
We chose our paint colors and wallpapers.
Then we partnered up and began assembling!
We saw some awesome teamwork!
We learned how to:
. . . apply a "thin bead of glue,"
. . . plan ahead and mark our walls before nailing,
. . . hammer straight and precisely,
. . . always confirm the straight entry of a nail BEFORE
the last strike(!),
. . . and, most importantly, have a lot of fun!
We learned how to use spackling to create a smooth surface.
We got busy painting windows and trim!
We watched a demonstration on stonework . . .
. . . then gave it a try ourselves . . .
. . . all the while . . .
. . . having a whole lot of fun!
Assembling, gluing, painting! We're still going strong! Scroll down to check on the day's progress.
We assembled our rooftops.
Then spent the rest of our day painting, painting, painting:
We did, however, find time for a game of
"Honey I Love You, But I Just Can't Smile!"
Which, of course, got completely . . .
. . . out of control!
(We decided we should probably get back to our painting. . .)
It was a day of rooftops and shingling! We're so proud of how far we've come. And all with only one little glitch so far: we're still waiting on the paint for the body of our houses. As all good miniaturists know how to do so well, we improvised and decided to jump ahead to shingling. Our hopes are high that our paint will arrive tomorrow!
We got to work attaching our rooftops.
We carefully applied glue to our side walls.
Then centered our rooftops.
We paired up to securely nail our rooftops to our houses.
Then, we were ready to shingle!
We measured one-inch increments.
And lined our roofs.
Then got to shingling!
Our houses are looking awesome!
We ARE: Team Whimsies.
Our paint arrived! Scroll down to see the progress we made today!

We lightly sanded our houses to prepare them for painting.

Then we got out our brushes and got to work!
Everyone was so excited to see their color on their house!

Wow! . . .

Our houses look awesome!
Great job
Team Whimsies!
What a busy day! We glued, nailed and wired our houses for electricity today. Scroll down and see all that we managed to get done!
We glued on our house foundations.
Then we nailed them into place.
We added our room dividers and securely nailed them into place as well.
Then we marked our houses for wiring.
After watching a demonstration on how to apply our wiring tape . . .
we went to work!
It was a busy day!
You're not going to believe all we got done today! We wallpapered our houses and began laying the flooring. We're so proud of our accomplishments today. Check it out yourself!
The big plan today was to get the papering done.
We carefully cut our paper for each room.
We got a lesson on wallpapering.
We watched how to carefully place our pasted paper.
Then we gave it a try on our own houses.
We spread the paste. . .
Then carefully placed our paper on the wall. . .
And smoothed out any air bubbles.
It was fun to watch our progress.
Then we moved on to installing our sheet-wood flooring.
We all watched how to measure and install the wood sheets.
We measured and marked. . .
careful to be precise in our measurements!
We put sheet-wood flooring in two of our rooms.
It's hard to believe our houses are almost finished!
Our houses are almost complete! We spent the day on the little details that really make a big difference. See below.
First, we cut out our windows from the wallpaper.
Then, we cleaned and reassembled our windows.
We glued our windows into place.
It looks great! What a difference windows makes!
Then, we added our shutters.
It was fun to see how all our color combinations looked!
Finally, we cut and glued our window trim into place.
A day of finishing touches! We all helped each other to try and finish up. One more day of tiles and installing our light fixtures and we are there! Scroll down to see today's accomplishments.
We We carefully measured and cut our baseboard pieces to size.
We cut our carpets to size and got out the carpet tape!
We attached our roof caps.
Most importantly, we all worked together as a team to help everyone with their finishing touches!
